I started running in 2009. I was living in Long Beach, California and working for the City of Los Angeles in a cubicle for 9 hours a day (Well, I still do that...) and feeling lazy, so I started walking after work. One day, my boyfriend (now husband) expressed his concern that I was out later and later each night, so I decided I could go further quicker if I started running. I loved it. I couldn't get enough. In November of 2009 I ran my first half marathon in Seattle. In March of 2010, I ran my first full marathon at the L.A. Marathon. Since then, I've completed over 40 half marathons, 20 full marathons, including a 50 miler and a 100k, and a handful of 5-30ks. I was a road runner, but now I'm more of a trail runner, but am adaptable. I might never get a BQ, or place in my age group, but I love running, and it loves me back. Sure, there have been setbacks with work, family, and life in general, but it's always there for me, and I always come back.
I'm considering adding some race reports of previous races that I like to talk about, and adding future race reports as well, along with gear... GEAR! fueling, recovery, and anything else that pertaining to my running life.
Currently, I am training with a women's ultra running group, led by the amazing and inspiring Keira Henninger. We are training for the Whoo's in El Moro 50k October 12th. I am also training for the Avalon 50 Mile Benefit Run in January. My time goals currently are to try to run a sub-5 hour marathon at Surf City in February, and break an hour on the 10k. To be continued...

Back at it
It has been four years since I updated my blog. When I first started running I was overwhelmed with love for it. Since then so many changes and events in life have occured that have taken up a major amount of my time. I increased my work and decreased time for reading and writing, and even running for a while. Now I'm back trying to find a delicate live/work/art balance. Time to start writing again. I toyed with the idea of waiting until the end of the year, but what's the point of an arbitrary timeline when I could start now?
